First, please call the Sanno Eye Center to make a reservation for an initial examination; this is to determine if you are able to have ICL surgery. The initial examination is covered by health insurance, so please bring your health insurance card to the appointment.
Initial examination and tests
The doctor will examine your eyes and conduct some tests to determine if you are able to have ICL surgery.
If the result is positive, then the doctor will explain the surgical procedure, post-operative schedule of recovery, and other relevant details.
*The tests and examination may indicate that you are unable to have ICL surgery.
Pre-operative tests
The doctor examines your eyes and conducts important tests to determine your lens prescription range, and other factors relevant to the surgery.
*Some of the lenses are order made, and it can take up to two months for some orders to be ready.
*If you already use contact lenses, please stop using them (i.e. switch to glasses) several days or up to two weeks before the initial examination and tests.
ICL surgery
It takes around 20 minutes for the ICL to be implanted in both eyes.
You will rest in the Center for a couple of hours after the surgery, and then the doctor will examine your eyes and give you the all clear to return home.
Post-operative examinations and tests
Please make sure you come to the Center the morning after the ICL surgery for a follow-up examination.
You should then return to the Center for further follow-up examinations and tests at the following intervals after the surgery: 3 to 4 days, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year.
Post-operative care
You will need to start using eye drops 1 to 2 weeks after the surgery
