I’ve had myopia since I was in elementary school, when I started wearing glasses; I switched to contact lenses in junior high school. I like sports, and I’ve been playing soccer and water sports for quite a while. I felt wearing contact lenses during sports was really restrictive, as sometimes they would become loose or fall out. Then I learnt about ICL and heard from people who were using them, and I decided to have the surgery myself.
I was quite nervous on the day of the ICL surgery, but I was surprised by how quick and painless the procedure was – it was over before I knew it! I also have astigmatism, so I chose lenses to treat that as well; and I was able to see really clearly only a couple of hours after the surgery. My current uncorrected visual acuity is now up to 2.0, and I no longer have to worry about using contact lenses when I do water sports or take long trips. I’m really glad I made the decision to have ICL surgery.

The ICL surgery wasn’t really painful, and it was over quickly. My vision was a little blurry directly after the surgery in the morning, but by the evening I could see quite clearly. Before ICL surgery, I used to wear glasses all the time and sometimes soft contact lenses too; but now I don’t need to use either of them at all. My range of vision is wider and clearer than when I was wearing glasses, and of course I don’t have dry or red eyes anymore like I used to after wearing contact lenses for many hours. ICL surgery has really made my life more comfortable and convenient.
Also, I feel like being able to see more things even clearer than before is also stimulating my brain. Plus I don’t need to spend money on eye glasses and contact lenses anymore, which makes ICL surgery a money saver in the long term. My eyes also look bigger now because they aren’t hidden behind glasses, and others have told me I look better since I started using ICL. Although there were some people who were quite negative about my decision to have ICL surgery, I’m really glad I did.

My eyes have been a problem for me for many years, starting in late elementary school when I began wearing glasses; I later switched to soft contact lenses and then hard contact lenses, and eventually back to soft lenses. It was a hassle to take all my contact lens supplies when I travelled, and each year my dry and red eyes and also eye mucus got worse. Then I heard about ICL and decided to have the surgery after consulting with my doctor, even though my family was against me undergoing a procedure that no one had really heard about.
The eye-drop anesthesia used in the ICL surgery meant that I was completely awake during the whole procedure, but I didn’t feel any pain – it just felt like there was some pressure on my eyes – and the surgery was over before I knew it. I also didn’t feel any pain after the surgery, even once the anesthesia wore off. I only needed to use a few different types of eye drops, and then I was able to start work again the next day. It’s so great to be able to see clearly the whole day, from when I wake up until I go to sleep; I haven’t experienced that for a long time. Thanks to ICL surgery, I’m now free from the hassle of using contact lenses and can lead an even more comfortable and convenient life.
Perhaps it’s because I no longer need to squint to see things, but others have commented how my eyes look bigger now and my general appearance is brighter than before. And another huge plus of using ICL is that I don’t have to worry about dirtying my contact lenses when I put on eye make up.
