Women's Medical Center/Obstetrics & Gynecology

Overview

Sanno Hospital has been recognized as a respected maternity hospital, and the Obstetrics & Gynecology department has tradition and a good track record in the long history. We are convinced that you will surely find the diagnosis and treatment by our experienced obstetricians and gynecologists very satisfying.
Delivery options include natural birth, and we also actively offer the option of anesthesia for labor and delivery.
The Obstetrics & Gynecology department has reliable risk management and detailed outpatient care systems in place from the weeks of pregnancy.

A safe backup system even in case of emergency
We ensure the safety of mothers and children for 24 hours a day throughout the year with a backup system with doctor on duty and doctor on-call so that we can take care of the patients even at night and on holidays. In case of emergency, you can have a C-section with anesthesia administered by the Anesthesiology dept. in an operating room. The NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) is also available.
As it comes to the last month of pregnancy, specialist pediatricians provide advice on how to deal with newborn babies at our "prenatal outpatient care" team.
You give birth in a private room in accordance with a birth plan worked out in advance, along with a maternity nurse attending. In order to dispel a feeling of fear about the pain of delivery any woman may have, we are proactively introducing the delivery with lesser pain, using epidural anesthesia in a bid to ensure a memorable, pleasant childbirth. You also have an option to use an LDR (Labor/Delivery/Recovery) room, which combines the functions of labor, delivery, and recovery rooms into one. Also, a Caesarean section can be performed in a well-equipped operating room with anesthesia administered by an anesthesiologist from Anesthesiology department.
After birth, mother and a newborn baby stay in the same room, where a maternity nurse provides guidance on breast-feeding and bathing. Mothers can choose either Japanese or Western food.
Since a period between hospital discharge and a one-month medical checkup is particularly important, we support healthy childrearing by offering outpatient care for lactation care by maternity nurses and for babies by neonatologists.
After birth, we also provide vaccination for mothers with no immunity to measles and rubella for their next pregnancy.
